Schevaran Innovation Centre (SIC) is the in-house R&D wing of Schevaran Laboratories Pvt Ltd.
The mandate for SIC is to develop innovative products for cleaning and hygiene purposes.

The products are non polluting & user-friendly with ingredients that are non-toxic both to the end user aswell as to the environment. The SIC has a state-of-the-art laboratory housed in an eco-friendly independent building.

The team SIC has highly qualified and experienced personnel headed by the Director who is a Doctorate in biochemistry with rich research as well as industry experience.

The activities of SIC are guided by a robust Advisory Board having scientists of national and international repute and industry stalwarts. The expertise of scientists includes Food Science and Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Healthcare fields headed by Padmashree awardee Dr V Prakash, former Director, CFTRI, Mysuru. Thus, SIC plays a pivotal role in the business and sustainability of Schevaran. Apart from developing new products, the SIC also works on re-engineering of the existing products to improve efficiency/ make them more cost-effective without compromising quality/ developing bio-based products. It is also focused on addressing the specific issues of the customer in the area of cleaning and hygiene. Schevaran has played a key role in controlling the pandemic situations in India including the recent COVID-19 through the products developed by SIC and guiding the agencies in controlling the pandemic. Schevaran Viroff 753 developed by SIC is the most popular hand sanitizer during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. SIC is into creating awareness on importance of cleanliness and hygiene in various spheres of life. In this direction, SIC keeps conducting seminars and symposia on health and hygiene aspects. Participates in exhibitions portraying Schevaran products highlighting the uniqueness of SIC- developed products. There are more than 120 products developed by SIC catering to the needs of the healthcare, food and pharma, manufacturing industries, large commercial spaces and facility management industries.

Dr. Bhavanishankar is the Director of Schevaran Innovation Centre, leading a team focused on product development for cleaning and hygiene products. A microbiologist with extensive experience, he joined Schevaran in 2014.

Dr. M.C. Varadaraj develops and manages the training programs for information dissemination at the Schevaran Innovation Centre. He is a Microbiologist with a PhD. in Dairy Microbiology. He retired from Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore as their Chief Scientist.

Dr.T.N.Bhavanishankar

Schevaran Innovation Centre

Dr. Bhavanishankar is the Director of Schevaran Innovation Centre, leading a team focused on product development for cleaning and hygiene products. A microbiologist with extensive experience, he joined Schevaran in 2014.

Before Schevaran, he spent 14 years as General Manager and Alternate Director at Bacardi’s manufacturing facility and 10 years at Gemini Distilleries in Quality Control and Technical roles. His earlier career includes 10 years at the Central Food Technological Research Institute in Mysore and 2 years at the International Crop Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics in Hyderabad.

He has authored over 25 research papers and serves on the Academic Council and Board of Studies in Biotechnology at Sri Jayachamarajendra Technological University, Mysore. He has received the Karnataka Vigyana Parishad Award for his Kannada book on microbiology and contributed a chapter on distillery effluent treatment technologies in a book on environmental security

Dr. KN Gurudutt

Senior Scientist

Dr. Gurudutt played a key role in establishing the Schevaran research centre. With 13 patents and over 30 years of experience in Food Chemistry, he is a significant contributor at SIC and a former Acting Director at CFTRI.

Holding a PhD in Organic Chemistry, Dr. Gurudutt has published over 50 research papers. His interests encompass natural products chemistry, organic synthesis, and process development for food additives and fine chemicals.

He led the Food Safety and Analytical Quality Control Laboratory (2004-09) and served on the CCFS of DGHS, MoH & FW. He also coordinated WHO’s training programs on food safety and drug control.

Dr. Gurudutt was a member of the Scientific Panel on Food Additives of FSSAI (2009-16) and is currently part of the FSSAI Scientific Committee.

Dr. M.C. Varadaraj develops and manages the training programs for information dissemination at the Schevaran Innovation Centre. He is a Microbiologist with a PhD. in Dairy Microbiology. He retired from Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore as their Chief Scientist.

Dr. Varadaraj served as the Chairman of Human Resource Development Department at CFTRI. He has been the official guide for several PhD and MSc. Scholars, and has published a large number of research papers in peer reviewed national and international scientific journals.
